Bernard Steyer, M.D.
Bernard J. Steyer, M.D. graduated from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia in 1978. He completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in pulmonary disease at the University of Arizona Medical Center and has been in independent group practice with his current group, Pulmonary Associates, since 1984. He is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary disease and critical care and continues to be in full-time practice. He served as a director on the MPMG Board for many years before becoming President and Chairman of the Board in 2010. He is married and has two adult children.
Alan Brody, M. D.
(Emergency Medicine) has been an MPMG Board member since 2010. He has served as chief of staff and medical director of the Emergency Department at Mills-Peninsula Medical Center. Dr. Brody earned his medical degree from the University of California at Davis.
John Chow, M.D.
(Internal Medicine) has been an MPMG Board member since 2006. Dr. Chow served on the Finance Committee and received his medical degree from Albany Medical College of Union University in Albany, New York.
Patricia Dailey, M.D.
(Anesthesiology) has been an MPMG Board member since 2004 and also participates on the Quality Improvement Committee. Dr. Dailey earned her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University.
Claudio Bet, M.D.
(Family Practice) has been an MPMG Board member since 2012 and also participates on the Credentials Committee. Dr. Bet earned his medical degree from the University of Padua.
Robert Zipkin, M.D.
(Cardiology) has been an MPMG Board member since 2015, is a current participant on the Compensation Committee and previously served on the MPMG Executive Committee. Dr. Zipkin earned his medical degree from the University of California at Davis.
Dirk Diefendorf, M.D.
(Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine) Dr. Diefendorf specializes in Arthroscopic and Reconstructive orthopedic surgery. He is board certified by the ABOS in both Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. He has served as the Team Orthopedic Surgeon for Serra High School in San Mateo since 1992. He has been an MPMG Board member since 2014, participates on the Compensation Committee and has served as Orthopedic Department Chairman at Peninsula Hospital. Dr. Diefendorf earned his medical degree from Northwestern University.
Kent Adler, M.D.
Secretary/Treasurer, (Medical Oncology) has served as a Board member since 2009. Dr. Adler chairs the Compensation Committee and participates on the Provider Development and Physician Network and MPMG Executive Committees. He earned his medical degree from the University of California at San Francisco.
David Caro, M.D.
(Urology) has been an MPMG Board member since 2010. Dr. Caro is an active participant on the MPMG Executive Committee. He has practiced Urology in the community for 33 years. Dr. Caro earned his degree from Cornell University Medical College.
Jennifer Bock Hughes, M.D.
(Otolaryngology) has been an MPMG Board member since 1999. Dr. Bock Hughes is a past participant on the Compensation Committee and on the Medical Policy Committee as a member and chair. Dr. Bock Hughes earned her medical degree at the Yale University School of Medicine.
Brian Johnson, M.D.
(Radiology) has been an MPMG Board member since 2007. Dr. Johnson is an active participant on the MPMG Executive Committee and earned his medical degree from Stanford University.
Sandra Beretta, M.D.
Dr. Sandra Beretta is a board certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist who has engaged in practice in San Mateo for over two decades and is the senior managing partner of an independent group practice. She has previously held the position as chair of the Department of Ob/GYN at Mills-Peninsula Medical Center, and served on various hospital committees. Sandra is currently a board member of a national medical malpractice insurance company, a board member of a private investment holding company, and a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors. Sandra enjoys participating in the local community with her husband and four children.
Adam Paley, M.D.
(Family Practice) has been an MPMG Board member since 2016 and participates on the Peer Review Committee. Dr. Paley earned his degree from Cornell University Medical College.
Keith Duncan, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Duncan has been a staff pathologist at Mills-Peninsula Medical Center since 1987 where he has served as Chief of Staff and Department Chair. He received his B.S in Biological Sciences, Ph.D. in Experimental Pathology and M.D. from the University of Southern California. Dr. Duncan currently chairs the MPMG Quality Improvement Committee and joined the Board in 2017. He has a passion for music and gardening and serves as elder at the First Presbyterian Church of Burlingame; he is married and has two sons.
