Position Title: Medical Biller – Level II

Scope of Responsibilities:
Overview: The Level II Biller must be comfortable handling all payment postings (manual and electronic), collections and working denied claims. This position requires an individual who consistently exhibits a positive attitude and can be a proactive team member of the department as well as have the ability to work independently.

Position Duties:
Responsibilities: • Payment posting (ERA and manual) and collections. • Answer billing inquiries from patients, clerical staff, clients and insurance companies. • Report billing complaints to the Lead Biller. • Report budget patients to the Lead Biller and report delinquent accounts. • In accordance with the Lead Biller, review accounts for possible assignment and assist in making recommendations for bad debt and collections. • Assist the Lead Billers in collection actions including contacting patients by phone, correcting and resubmitting claims after confirming transmission errors with the payer. • Assist the Lead Biller with tracking all accounts with credit balances and assist with coordinating refunds to the client. • Establish and maintain a courteous and professional attitude with all appropriate managers, co-workers, payers, clients and their patients. • Assist in training new Level II Billers within the department.

Qualifications:
Requirements: • High School graduate. AA degree preferred • Minimum of 2-3 years of medical billing experience with a strong working knowledge of the entire medical billing process. • Experience working with Medicare, Medi-Cal, PPO’s, HMO’s, POS and fee-for-service plans. • Strong knowledge of HCPCS, ICD-9-CM and CPT code use; certified coder preferred • Ability to identify incorrect or missing modifiers. • Superior customer service skills with patients, clients and insurance companies. • Excellent organizational, computer and communication skills. • Experience working with NextGen software preferred but not required. . • Valid CA Drivers license.
